April
23, 2006 update
I received news in April that God has done a great work in my
body and I have been cleared by my doctors in Denver to stay away for a
full year. Of course, I'll be in contact with my great doctor here,
Richard Feibelman in the meantime. But I am so grateful to God that my
Pulmonary Function tests and my CT Scan in Denver "looked like a
normal person" (words of Dr. Scott Worthen.) So thank you for praying
and thank you for your words of encouragement over the past 18 months. God
has been good to bring a great healing in my body.
May 16, 2006 UPDATE
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!
Thank you for praying, for your encouragement, and your gifts.
God has seen us through a very dark valley but His faithfulness has shown itself again as I completed the Gulf Coast Triathlon on Saturday, May 13, 2006. This was my first triathlon since November, 2004 and only 13 months since my one breath from death experience. As I crossed the finish line I was reminded of God's faithfulness and His healing power. Hooah!
August 12, 2006 UPDATE
Great news from my pulmonologist, Dr. Richard Feibelman - the disease I have continues to decrease, thank the Lord. My body is healing and my CT scan and my Pulmonary Function Tests were very positive, showing a decrease in the bronchiectisis. If you are new to this page, please read through this page and the links for the complete story. On April 6, 2005 I was one breath from death and as you can see from the pictures things did not look very good for me to live, let alone train and race again. Thankfully, God has blessed me to continue to heal and by His grace I am back to training, coaching, and hopefully racing more and more. I was hoping to get into the Ironman in Hawaii this year as a comeback race but it didn't work out this year. As it stands, I am planning on running the Disney Marathon again in January and Ironman Arizona in April. (I was signed up for Ironman Arizona in 2005 but was detained in I.C.U. at the time of the race.)
October 30, 2006 update
I saw Dr. Feibelman who continues to be amazed by God's work in my body. I have been steroid free since the end of August, yet my CT Scan and my Pulmonary Function tests showed that I am still making progress. "Look what God can do!"
