Merry
Christmas from the Brubaker’s!
Jan
and I are counting our blessings. God has blessed us with a church
to serve, the selling of our house in Chuluota, and a house in
Clearwater. Wow!
As
we began 2007, we were seeking God’s will about a place to
serve. Bob was doing pulpit supply at a number of churches and one
church, Christ Community Presbyterian Church in Clearwater, kept
asking him back. As we returned several times each month, we grew
to love the people and the people grew to love us. Finally in May
it was official: Bob was called to be the pastor. We put our house
in Chuluota on the market and began commuting to Clearwater. It
took much longer than we had expected and we covered many more
miles than we thought we would but our house sold and we began our
new journey as citizens of Clearwater on October 15th.
We were worn out from all the commuting but extremely thankful for
the way God provided just the right house, close to the church
with all the features for which we were looking.
Ephesians 3:20-21 (ESV) Now
to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask
or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be
glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all
generations, forever and ever. Amen.
It
was tough to leave RTS (Reformed Theological Seminary) after her 7
years of service, but Jan found her replacement and received a
wonderful send off from the staff and faculty. Jan is now devoting
her attention to church ministries and building her Mary Kay
business in the Clearwater area.
Bob
completed two Ironman triathlons, Ironman Arizona and Ironman
Florida. Both races were a great time of rejoicing at the
faithfulness of God in bringing Bob back from one breath from
death in 2005 to completing his first two Ironman races after his
illness. The report from his doctor is that Bob’s lungs continue
to improve and he is planning to compete in two Ironman races in
the coming year, Ironman Brazil and Ironman Florida.
We
are looking forward to 2008 to see what God has in store. He sure
blew our minds this past year and we rejoice at His mercy to us in
providing and doing more than we could ever imagine. In the coming
year we have some great ministry opportunities before us as we
look to expand the PowerBreak ministry (see www.powerbreak.org), Bob has been asked to
speak at the ICTN Triathlon camp in Phoenix in January where
hundreds of athletes and coaches will be present from all over the
world. The two of us are participating in a missions trip to the
Zona Maya, Mexico in April. Bob went this past August and was
quite moved by the people. We’ll also be ministering in Brazil
prior to Bob’s participation in Ironman Brazil. (To
donate, see the PowerBreak website)
In
addition, there is a great work at Christ Community Presbyterian
Church (www.ccpconline.org) here in Clearwater.
Please pray for us as we seek to serve God, minister the Word, and
serve the people. We know God will do great things when we call
upon Him, so thank you for praying.
Godspeed,
Bob
