The January 23, 2006 - UPDATE - Page Just scroll down for the latest UPDATE January 23, 2006 UPDATE – God is doing wonders! And more pictures from The Walt Disney World Marathon Thank God, He is really helping me recover and make good strides in the healing process. My oxygen saturation levels are continuing to hold at a higher point than they have been for over a year and my peek flow readings are steadily at the highest possible reading. My training continues to improve as my running times are lower since I am running more and faster and walking less. My cycling is improving and so is my swimming.
As I discussed this with my doctor, Richard Feibelman after our Wednesday morning run last week, all he could say is, "Praise God!" It’s so cool to have a doctor like him. We are so appreciative of the people that God has placed in our lives who have helped and encouraged us through this ordeal that began over a year ago as we went to the valley of the "One Breath From Death" experience on April 6, 2005 - but God has been bringing us steadily out of the valley ever since. What a great God He is! Psalm 92:5 O Lord, what great miracles you do! And how deep are your thoughts. Psalm 96:4 Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! He is to be revered above all the gods. As I looked back over the past year, I am amazed how God gave me great hope and faith to make it through. In May of last year I made a commitment to run the Walt Disney World Marathon, while I was still on oxygen and had a PICC line in my arm for IV treatment. I also made the commitment to my friend, Lincoln Murdoch to somehow help with the triathlon camp in Phoenix, Arizona. I didn’t know how far I’d be and whether I’d really be able to do either but God has done great things – far more than we could have ever imagined! On January 8th, Jan and I completed the Disney Marathon. The next event is the triathlon camp, then the Gulf Coast Triathlon (half Ironman distance) and we’re hoping and praying to get a slot in the Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Hawaii in October. I have done this race before but I’d like to do it again to use it as a platform as we did the Disney Marathon and each event since then – to say, "Look what God can do!" as we tell our story and message of hope. Psalm 96:3 Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. I have submitted an article telling my story to Guideposts magazine. Please pray that God will open this door. A friend suggested it and I have pursued it by writing, editing over and over until I just said, this is as good as it’s going to get and sent it to them last night. This would be a great platform to tell everyone about God’s great work in healing me from One Breath From Death. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. In addition to all the above, God is continuing to open doors for our PowerBreak ministry. (See www.powerbreak.org) As He has blessed the ministries to grow over the past year since my "one breath from death" experience in Denver, He has continued to show us new doors to launch and we need plenty of prayer. We hope to have PowerBreak presence at a number of triathlons, including the Ironman triathlons in the coming year. We also are planning expansion of our website (www.powerbreak.org) to include PowerBreak Communications – several audio features including a fifteen minute interview program. I am also going all out to make my services available for life coaching, running, swimming, and cycling coaching. For more information see the PowerBreak website.
Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer you, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou know not. God is doing great and mighty things in our lives. He took me from "one breath from death" to the finish line of the Walt Disney Marathon, but that was only the beginning! He has shown me that there is much more to conquer and use for His glory as we spread the word of hope. I was one breath from death, but look what God can do – and if He can do this for me, think of what He can do for you! Godspeed, Bob Brubaker
